- Influence Project
Each student will pick one source of influence that finds its way into your own work. It could be a musician, a web designer, graphic artist, painter, etc.
The artist that I have chosen is my own Sibling, Astra Ligo. I have asked them if it was okay to post their art on my website but unfortunately they have declined. I will post links to their art posting blogs

- What does your influential works look like when done well?
The works when finished look neat with smooth lines and good colouring (Shading, light sources, blending, colour coding and no harsh strokes.. You know what I’m saying?) Also, they do writing as well and when their writing is done, it has a poetic feel to it and as always, no spelling/grammar errors.
- Why does this piece of work influence you? What about it gets your focus and interest?
It stands out to me, I really like how this artist colours their works and after they’re done their line art, they then add a really nice background that looks really nice with their art and makes the piece stand out (Background will be dark if the drawing has light colours and vice versa). They also don’t just draw and colour their art with pencils and pencil crayons but they also paint and do digital art as well. Their paintings follow the same flow as their art and colouring as well as their digital art. As for their writing, I really enjoy the flow that they have. It’s vague when they write but you can tell that there is some imagery and them referencing a ‘bigger picture’
iii. What makes this body of work “successful”?
They really take their time to draw their art works. Even though they only release maybe one every week and a half, this shows that they really take their time not only to draw the art piece but to also edit, colour and look back for errors. The writing is successful ’cause when I read one piece, I didn’t actually notice that I kept on reading more of it because it’s JUST THAT GOOD.
- What about the “Design” is inspirational.
Their style of art is so complex, yet so simple and it really makes you want to draw. When there is a complicated stance that a character is in, they make the lines look very clear and the pose doesn’t strain your eyes to follow. Their writing almost reminds me of poetry as is has a nice poetic flow to it.
- What does it look like when it is done poorly?
I haven’t seen a poor piece of work from them but I would guess that the lines aren’t smooth, the colouring goes outside the lines, proportion is noticeably off and maybe it looks rather rushed. Spelling errors and some words that are miss used.
